The rules, in plain English

In short
- Onramp is free. We will never ask you for card details.
- We do not offer paid work and we do not find you a job.
- Our certificates are issued by us. They are not accredited by anyone else.
- You need to be 13 or older, and under 18s need a parent's permission.
- Do not cheat the test. It only devalues your own certificate.

Who can use it
You need to be at least 13. If you are under 18, you need permission from a parent or guardian before you sign up, and we will email them to check.
If you are using Onramp on behalf of a school or organisation, you are confirming you are allowed to agree to these terms for them.
What we promise
- The lessons and the test are free, and we are not planning to charge for them.
- The test is marked honestly, against a rubric we publish openly.
- Your certificate shows your real score. We will not inflate it.
- We will not sell your details or use them for advertising.
What we do not promise
We do not promise you a job, an interview, or any income. A certificate from us is evidence that you passed a test and did some work. What an employer makes of that is up to them. Anyone telling you a course guarantees employment is not being straight with you, and that includes us if we ever do.
- Our certificates are not accredited. They are issued by Onramp and are not endorsed by any university, government body or industry association.
- We do not offer paid work. If that changes we will say so clearly, and joining any interest list is not a job offer.
- The site may be unavailable sometimes. We will try to keep it running but we do not guarantee it.
- Course content may change. AI moves fast and we will update lessons as it does.
Your progress and your certificate
Right now your progress is stored in your own browser, not on our servers. If you clear your browser data it is gone and we cannot restore it. We say this on the page too, so it should not come as a surprise.
Certificate codes are ours to issue and, if necessary, to withdraw. We would only withdraw one if it was obtained dishonestly.
Fair use of the test
The test only means something if people take it honestly. So please do not:
- have someone else take it for you
- publish the questions and answers
- use automated tools to answer it
- claim a certificate you did not earn
If we find a certificate was obtained this way we will withdraw it. There is a certain irony in cheating a test about using AI honestly, and we would rather nobody had to find that out.
Using our material
The lessons, questions, rubric and design are ours. You are welcome to:
- use Onramp with your class or your team
- print the pocket guide and hand it out
- link to any page
- quote us with credit
Please do not republish the course as your own or sell it. If you want to do something not on this list, ask — the answer is usually yes.
If something goes wrong
We provide Onramp as it is. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for losses arising from using it — including any decision you make based on what you learned here.
That said, if we get something wrong we would rather hear about it and fix it than hide behind this paragraph. Email us.
Ending it
You can stop using Onramp whenever you like and ask us to delete your details. We can close an account that breaks these terms, and we will tell you why if we do.
Changes
If we change these terms we will update the date. If a change matters and we have your email, we will tell you.
Which law applies
These terms are governed by the law of [YOUR STATE / COUNTRY].
